What does the devil wear? Prada. Because Italians do it better. In Milan, the city of fashion, you can find all the top brands such as Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Roberto Cavalli e Dolce&Gabbana. Each year four very importan fashion weeks are held influenting the word mood. Here a list of the top 10 places to go for shopping, from luxury to fast fashion, from second hand shops to open air market. In the city center, shops are open every day, usually from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm.
1. Monte Napoleone fashion district
Monte Napoleone is a high-class shopping street in the centre of Milan. It is full of very importat brands such as Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fratelli Rossetti , Prada, Versace, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Monte Napoleone is part of the so-called Quadrilateral of Fashion, formed by Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia.
2. Brera
Brera is a district full of art galeries and very nice small boutiques selling selected international brands. Take a walk on Via Mercato, Via Pontaccio, Via dell'Orso to discover Marc by Marc Jacobs, Manee, Luisa Beccaria, Barbarella, Massimo Alba, Antonia and Franco Jacassi the guru of vintage fashion.
3. Tortona and Porta Genova
If you like unusual brand and design take a walk on Via Tortona, Via Savona and Via Vigevano. There you can find handmade jewels and dresses.
4. Corso di Porta Ticinese
Near the city centre, Corso di Porta Ticinese is the so-colled hipster street, on wich you can find casual and streetwear fashion for exemple by American Apparel and Vans.
5. Navigli (Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese)
Navigli is an entertainment district, full of bars, cafes and restaurant. Along the two canals there are cozy shops selling vintage fashion and small brand clothes.
6. Via Torino
In the very city center, Via Torino is the street of low cost and fast fashion such as H&M, Promod, Mango, Stradivarius, Zara, Pimkie and Tally Weijl.
7. Corso Vittorio Emanuele
Corso Vittorio Emanuele is the pedestrian zone from the Duomo to San Babila Square. It is full of different shops and there are two amazing shopping center: La Rinascente and Excelsion.
8. Corso Buenos Aires
Corso Bueons Aires is a one and a half kilometer shopping street. There are at least 350 shops and outlets, that's why it is one of the street with the hightest concentration of clothing stores in Europe (like Oxford Street in London, for example).
9. Isola
Isola (The Island, but not because there is water around it) is a district famous for its vintage shops where you can find clothes, bags and shoes. Take a walk on Via Garigliano, Via Pastrengo and Via Borsieri.
10. Fauchè Street open air market
The Fauchè open air market is held every Twesday and Saturday. Visiting this market is considered a shopping experience full of charme. On the stallas you can find very good brands for a very good price.
